charming animals
hello.
i am training to be a ranger. i have the spell to charm animals. i have been unable to charm a stalker. each time i try, it says that i am not close enough. i have tried several things, including running infront of the stalker and charming it. as well, i have even killed a few stalkers and tried the spell on them after they were dead. nothing works. the dead ones vanish before being enchanted. how do i charm this beast? is there a way i can improve my range? anyrunes that help? if i cant, i cant be a ranger. should i just quit and try another profession ? thanks fo ryour help |

It sounds to me as though you might be accidentally using Comfort Animal as opposed to Charm Animal.
Find the animal you want. Click on it so that you can see it's name/health bar at the top of your screen. Then click on Charm Animal. Also, you cannot charm dead animals. |

Comfort animal is the spell that heals, but you need to have Charm Animal up to actually the charm and keep it up to have the animal with you outside of zones.

you should have charm animal as a skill, look at your skills list and make sure you have it...if so go to a nearby town, take out one of your other skills and replace it with charm animals, skill can be switched in towns only...head back to where you were and charm the animal.

Better text:
If the skill isn't on your skill bar, press M, then teleport to a town nearby and press K. It will open your skill list, just click and drag the skill into your bar. Wonder off and nab yourself a cat.

When you hit K in a town, and a list of skills show up, those are ALL the skills you have learned. You can put any EIGHT of those onto your skillbar, and those are the only ones you can use when you go outside of town, say, into a quest. The next time you go back into a town, you can again change your skills. All the skills you see when you hit K are permanent skills, you will never lose them. When you hit K and display a list of skills, this is like your POT of skills at home, and you can only take EIGHT of those skills out of the POT when you leave home at any time. When you come back home, you can trade skills from your skillbar back and take different ones out of the pot. However, you will never lose any skills that are in that pot.
